Start-ups: Building Communities of Social Change
In 2009 an enterprising student at Hult International Business School named Ahmad Ashkar had a compelling idea: crowd-sourcing brilliant solutions for how to change the world from college and university students around the world. He convinced Hult’s president to host an intercollegiate tournament to solve the global education crisis in partnership with One Laptop per Child. He then invited teams in business schools to take up the challenge. The first annual Hult Prize (originally called the Hult Global Case Challenge) took place in the spring of 2010.
Each year Hult challenges thousands of university students worldwide to create start-ups aimed at solving a specified issue faced by billions in need. Up for grabs, the Hult Prize – $1M in start-up funding. While there is only one winner, each of the six regional champions receives a summer at the Hult Prize Accelerator at IXL (an innovation incubator), one year membership into Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and the opportunity to present their idea to President Bill Clinton.
Learn more about how diverse groups of people from the ranks of corporate CXOs, non profit leaders and social entrepreneurs and students can make a difference. Be inspired, unite to build communities of social change.
