Welcome to Silicon Valley Forum’s newest blog series – Friday Forum! Let me introduce myself. My name is Erin Ferguson. I’m a mother of two overly active boys, and my husband is an Attorney. I am surrounded by testosterone. Even my two Labradors are male. I took our pregnant cat to the vet, only to find out that “she” is also a boy. 🤦♀️
I have a background in Marketing, Public Relations, Event Planning, and Stand Up Comedy. The last one is not true, but who knows what the future holds. I have to rely on my sense of humor to get me through this crazy life – and wine, and maybe a dash of Prozac.
As the Marketing & Special Projects Manager of Silicon Valley Forum, I want to make Fridays even more exciting to our loyal community. (To get up to speed with what our organization is doing, take a look at our website.) Here, at the Friday Forum, I will unveil who our team is, aka the Dream Team (please don’t sue me 1992 USA Men’s Basketball Team). The Friday Forum will provide behind the scenes footage of our events and maybe some office shenanigans. We will dig into topics such as women in leadership, entrepreneurs, Agtech, smart mobility, startups, technology, and much more. I’ve been known to throw a mean curve ball (little league baseball is taking over my life), so stay on your toes. You might also find promotional and partnership opportunities as well as a little inspiration as you head into your weekend. Do not fret! This will be fun and you should leave with take-away content and maybe sore ribs from laughing.
Like Rome, Silicon Valley was not built in a day. Startups take time and flops to triumph. According to Inkstone News, China wants to have its own Silicon Valley by 2035. I’m not sure if they can compete with our California weather, Mark Zuckerberg drama, or avocados – who doesn’t love avocados? – but my point is, we are kind of a big deal. Our name, Silicon Valley Forum, says it all. We are directly connected to Silicon Valley, and have been for over 35 years. The force is strong. We have an oversized electronic rolodex of who’s who in the Bay Area, and we love startups. If you are asking “what would Silicon Valley do”, then one of our immersion programs is your answer. Visit our blog archives to hear about some of our past programs and events. Contact us directly to discuss partnership opportunities. Or send money. That helps too.
It’s Friday, so I’m sure you are eager to finish up your Googling and Facebook stalking. Also, the wine is calling, and so are my boys. If your glass is half empty, remember that an empty glass is always refillable. See you next time.
Happy Friday! 🥳
